NO GEEK ARGUMENTS HERE, THEY'RE GREAT! May 21, 2008 3 out of 9 found this review helpful
WHATEVER IS SAID ABOUT ' OH THAT 2 SECONDS IS CUT' OR 'THERE IS 3.2 MINUSTES LESS EXTRA'S ON THIS VERSION.' WHO CARES? THEY ARE THREE ICONIC FILMS - THREE FILMS THAT I LOVED AS A KID, THREE FILMS THAT I HAVE NEVER GOT ROUND TO PURCHASING UNTIL NOW (THANKS FOR THEM BEING IN THE MEDIA AGAIN BECAUSE OF THE NEW FILM) AND THREE FILMS THAT SHOULD NOT BE MISSED NO MATTER WHAT THE POXY FORMAT! YOU NOT SEEN THEM, THEN BUY IT - YOU HAVE SEEN THEM AND YOU'RE A FAN LIKE ME THEN STILL BUY IT! WORTH EVERY PENNY, AWESOME FILMS.
The adventure at its best October 22, 2008 I have seen all the three installments in the theatres right from my early days of school to college days. It was a great adventure to watch. All three movies have independent stories, but the best of them was the "Last Crusade". However, the first one "Raiders of the Lost Ark" is also good. "The Temple of Doom" is not very interesting. All three movies are the best viewing experience for adventure. However, the DVD pack is not very attractive. This DVD pack contains all three DVDs, with each disc containing special features pertaining to movie, which also includes latest excerpts from interviews with Steven Spielberg and George Lucas. Except for these interviews, nothing new is in this DVD pack. Those of you who already have previously released DVD pack in 2003 are not recommended to buy this pack. Even the DVD menus of all three DVDs are the same as it was in the 2003 pack. I do not understand why the DVD pack was released by Paramount, with minor changes and containing only a few special features, because the earlier DVD edition had a bonus disc containing scores of bonus material. As far as this DVD pack is concerned, it was nothing but "old wine in a new bottle".
Paramount Pictures... May 15, 2008 16 out of 22 found this review helpful
...must be having a laugh! Temple of Doom is still the rubbish cut version! The runtime on the actual case of this release lists this film at 114 minutes, the 2003 case lists it at 112 minutes. Closer inspection of the films themselves by placing the discs in the player show they run for EXACTLY the same amount of time. If you are looking for the uncut version of this film, DO NOT be fooled by the listed run time of this DVD. It does NOT clock in at 118 mins. This film was originally attacked by the BBFC waaaaaay back in 1984 and trimmed by 66 secs for excessive violence. As it is now 24 years down the line one would assume this film would get a 12 certificate. After all, that's why the Motion Picture Association of America created the PG-13 rating in the wake of Temple, as barely got it's PG cert over there. In the US, the film is uncut and STILL rated PG. Whatever has happened we consumers have been left high and dry again! It appears either Paramount have made a mistake, or are trying to pull a fast one and get completists like myself to purchase this film in GOOD faith based on the extended run time. I for one am very disappointed and intend to take this as far as I can to get some answers from Paramount Home Entertainment UK Ltd.
That said, the films themselves are cracking. But in agreement with the post below this is another example of double dipping - just like the farce with the 3 and 4 disc Star Wars sets. And let's not forget, one man is responsible for both... I say no more, except I'm making it up as I go and will be in the queue for Kingdom of the Crystal Skull!
Still no DTS? June 17, 2008 0 out of 2 found this review helpful
Why on earth does neither this trilogy or the Star Wars one (even the newer ones come to think of it) have DTS soundtracks when that technology was helped into development by Spielberg and Lucas? After all Spielberg's Duel and Jaws have that on the DVD so it can't be a case of not being able to retrofit it to an older movie. Mhhm?
Good material, but wrong language details June 21, 2008 0 out of 4 found this review helpful
Why do they get it wrong so often: Bought it, because it promised German soundtrack, the print on the DVD itself (Temple of Doom) show all the age limits: English, Irish, German, Spanish and a RED ONE (Italian ?), returned it - of course
