Everything Mario Kart should be December 7, 2005 12 out of 13 found this review helpful
This is, without a doubt, THE best Mario Kart game, ever. Ever, ever. If you liked any of the previous incarnations of Mario Kart, this game will blow you away. There's a whole load of single player options, and just like all the over versions, there's Grand Prix (available in 50cc, 100cc, and 150cc), Time Trials, and Vs. For the first time, you can also play in Battle Mode with computer controlled characters. However, while single player is a lot of fun, multiplayer is where this game really shines. Of course, there's the local wireless mode, and there's little that can beat playing against 8 other real people. As well as this, this is the first game to utilise the Nintendo Wi-Fi service. If you have a wireless internet connection, setup is painless, and playing people across the world is quick and simple. There's a lot to be said for beating 3 random people in 4 consecutive races! In short, BUY THIS GAME. It's 100% amazing in short bursts, hour long stints, by yourself, with others, online, and any other situation you can think of.
Another entertaining Mario Kart September 25, 2006 11 out of 12 found this review helpful
I've liked the Mario Kart games since the first came out for the Super Nintendo back in the nineties. It seems like Nintendo releases a version of this for every platform, and the DS version is just as good as any of the others as far as I can tell.
There's a bit more complexity - the range of attributes that separate each character is larger, and more tracks to race on (including "classic" tracks and completely new ones). There's also a few items I don't remember seeing before, and drifting around corners is a bigger deal than it used to be - getting used to that took some time.
This is all detail though - the game is just as lighthearted and fun as it ever was, so if you enjoyed previous Kart games, you're going to like this one. A great time-killer for commutes on the tube or time lost in the airport!
Hard but brilliant June 3, 2007 15 out of 17 found this review helpful
I got this game after I played it at my friend's (who shall remain anonymouse) house. When I played i was amazed at the brilliance of the game. So as soon as I saw it on the shelf in the shop I instantly picked it up and bought it. As soon as I got home I got home I inserted it into my ds and played for at least three hours. After playing it for a month I have almost finished (what I think is) all the cups from 50cc to 150cc mirror mode, and I have almost got through all the levels. At times I have been extremely frustradted at the game but I still carried on playing.
So if you like challenging racing games this game is for you!
Mario Kart - The Greatest Game on DS! August 19, 2006 18 out of 21 found this review helpful
I got this game with the DS, so I didn't think it would be that good. I was wrong. The game has spectacular graphics, you can control the Karts easily and I was never bored. I recommend this game strongly, though it takes a few minutes to get into.

Top Quality! July 13, 2006 13 out of 15 found this review helpful
It doesn't matter if you are not a Mario or Mariokart fan. This game is one that will give very long lasting enjoyment hours on end. Although previous Mariokarts have been excellent, and I thought it would have been impossible to match the N64 Mariokart. It is even better. The game has 32 tracks (16 new ones and 16 ones that have been on previous mariokart games) but with the new features such as a selection of karts for each player. More characters to choose from and missions. The game has so much more to offer than pretty much any other racing games of any sort around!
