Sonic bounces back for his best 3D game yet! March 9, 2007 7 out of 10 found this review helpful
This is a return to form for the speedy blue hedgehog. Sonic runs automatically along a set path and it's down to you to steer him and control his jumps etc. It mostly works really well and some of the later levels see Sonic going at incredibly fast speeds! A new feature of this game is the idea of ring customisation. Sonic levels up as you complete missions and learns new skills(about 100 in all) that you can assign to different rings. It's a really good idea, as different levels require different skills.
The graphics in the game are some of the best on the Wii, with vast detailed environments, it's very impressive at times and also there are never framerate drops which is good considering how fast the game is. There are 7 worlds(not counting the tutorial one) and there are about 100 missions which range from collecting 100 rings to beating the mission in a certain time, there are bronze to gold medals to collect as well which add to the replay value.
However, this being a 3D Sonic game there are bound to be some bad points. It is quite hard to reverse Sonic sometimes when you hit a wall or miss something, you don't really feel that much in control of him. Sometimes the camera switches to a strange angle and you have to readjust the direction which is awkward and some of the bosses are very frustrating. Also there is absolutely dreadful voice acting, but you can switch the japanese voices on. There is also a party mode with 40 minigames much like super monkey ball, but before you get your hopes up it's rubbish in my opinion.
All that said, Sonic and the Secret rings is a solid entry to the series, and is much better than the Xbox 360 and PS3 game and is worth buying if you have a Wii.

after a few numerous outings with sonic adventure and sonic heroes on other consoles sonic is back on and his first adventure on the wii compared to sonic the hedgehog on 360 i think this is better some great colorfull levels on there and the speed is amazing all you could want for a sonic game hopefully someday a new 2d game wil come out like the classic games for the mega drive this is enough to keep you going for a while and the party games are very goood how can anyone give this anything less then 5 is bannas this is for sonic fans old and new. So get this game and Enjoy

I enjoyed playing this game and my favourite part of the game is playing the party games with my favourite character Tails. I now play this game over and over again like my other Sonic games.
I give this game 5 Stars.
Excellent! June 10, 2007 21 out of 21 found this review helpful
I bourght this as one of my first wii games to see if sega could rectify their abissmal attempts at sonic over the last few years and i must say - They've done it!
Although i'm not a big fan of the story line and the first levels are awfully short and with alot of boring cut scenes in a comic book style - when you get down to the decent levels they can offer hours of fun game play. The grapics look good in 3D and the speed is fantastic. The missons are fun and you won't want the levels to end.
An excellent use of the wii and a highly recommended game!
Impressive May 23, 2007 14 out of 15 found this review helpful
Wow, this game really is aesthetically pleasing, I was quite astounded at most of the visuals and it really does throw you into the action immediately. The speed it moves at is quite frightening, and sometimes you can feel a little helpless as Sonic zooms around the screen, but it serves to create an entertaining and immersive experience nevertheless. The only gripe I can see people having with this game is the difficulty, as it is genuinely very tricky at times, though I do personally think the controls are extremely precise. Coupled with a great multiplayer mode (that makes excellent use of the remotes sensory abilities) I'd recommend this title to people who love a lengthy challenge. And get the swear-box ready!!! ;o)
