Starfox Adventures January 7, 2003 4 out of 6 found this review helpful
Sadly, this is Rare's last Nintendo title, but what a job they've done on it. I really can't see how they could have made this game any better. At the start of the game you are in control of that girl who I've forgotten the name of. You wander around getting your bearings, and after a while when you've returned the spirit you'll be on Dinosour Planet (imaginative name!) controling Fox McCloud whcich is where the real fun starts. I have at least on piece of advise - do not go anywhere near a walkthrough. The game is not easy but it will be pointlessly simple once you're told what to do. It really will spoil it. The puzzles can be solved if you know what to look for. On Luigis Mansion, everything was to do with hoovering something to disturb ghosts, just like on this it is all to do with something in your inventory or one of Tricky's capabilities. The gameplay is fantastic, and I know that is what is said about any game anyone likes ever, but I think this really is something special. The graphics are everything you would expect on the GC, but the fur is beyond that by a long shot. It almost looks out of place compared with the other items on the screen. I'm not sure what all the hype about the water was for though - it is no better than Mario Sunshine really. This review is a bit rubbish and bitty, but what I'm really trying to say is that this game is fanastic! It is so worth buying!
BETTER THAN ALL THE REST!!! January 17, 2003 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Firstly I would like to say that this is the definitive game for the cube. I bought mario sunshine and liked it but it didnt blow me away so i waited for the next nintendo great, and it came in the form of starfox adventures. The control system is very similar to zelda but 1 ups it the lock on is auto and the combos are better. the main weapon is staff which you get many upgrades for including the classic fire and ice. The graphics are superb with slick visuals, amazing fur effects and sweet animation the backgrounds are rendered in lush 3d and shows what the gamecube is all about. The story is 1 of the best I have ever played through (although it was only 12hrs) and the twist at the end deserves some kind of award. So if you like zelda style rpgs do yourself a HUGE favour and buy this, you wont be dissapointed!
I think this ones had too much criticism January 17, 2003 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
If you read any GameCube magazine @ the minute they'll tell you how this game is "too much of what we've seen before" not understanding that this is exactly what fans of Nintendo and Rare want. Graphically this game is flawless and Rare's characters retain all the quirkiness they had on the N64. It's a bit easy in places but rivals the likes of Banjo-Kazooie for it's playability. The only downside to this one is that whenever you're stuck you cant just press start and ask Slippy making and this makes the game slightly too easy. The controls are very simple to get the hang of as it steals various aspects from Zelda (whose control system was perfect). Overall 5 stars. Buy it.
The best Starfox game ever?-you can bet on that! April 25, 2003 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
The last Starfox game to appear before this one Was Lylat Wars on the N64 and that was one of the best games i have ever played, but when i played this installment i was even more impressed, with cutting edge visuals and truly fantastic gameplay, you can't help but want to play this game its a nintendo classic, and once again it's came from Rare,go on buy it you wont be dissapointed, especially at amazon's great price! WARNING:This game is highly addictive!
Star Fox: Just keeps getting better and better!!! September 16, 2003 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
When I played the first Star Fox, I was impressed, now I've played the second, I'm blown away! This game is quality, the graphics are spot-on and the gameplay is bloody brilliant! I never regret buying this game, coz at the time, I thought it was a bit of a gamble. Buy it, Rent it, Buy it , Rent it, or even play it round a mates, it's surely worth playing!
